BEIJING, AMSTERDAM, September 21, 2012 - Sustainalytics has announced a new research partnership with the Beijing-based sustainability consulting firm SynTao. Through this partnership Sustainalytics' clients will receive access to SynTao's on-the-ground studies and local expertise in Chinese securities while SynTao's clients acquire ins*ight into Sustainalytics' global environmental, social and governance (ESG) research and analysis.

The sharing of resources is a central aspect of this relationship. SynTao, China's first consultancy dedicated to the promotion of corporate transparency and sustainability, will share analysis of Chinese companies' ESG performance on the Sustainalytics Global Platform, enabling Sustainalytics' clients to improve their understanding of this increasingly important market. Furthermore, in working with Sustainalytics SynTao can offer its clients in*sightful guidance on global best practices and international standards for sustainability solutions and training.

"We're pleased to be working with Sustainalytics because it will ensure our local and international clients have the best of all worlds - access to CSR best practices from around the globe supported by culturally relevant ins*ights and guidance," said Dr. Guo Peiyuan, co-founder and general manager of SynTao.

"Asian investors are demanding global ESG research that reflects an understanding of local issues and themes," said Michael Jantzi, Sustainalytics CEO. "Thanks to this new partnership with SynTao, Sustainalytics will also offer enhanced ESG research coverage of Chinese securities for our responsible investment clients globally."

SynTao's research and deep understanding of the Chinese market will allow Sustainalytics to not only flesh out the current Chinese company profiles within its research platform, but also to increase the number of Chinese securities covered. The partnership with SynTao is the latest of Sustainalytics corporate activities in the Asian market, solidifying its commitment and enhancing its offerings to responsible investors interested in the region. The firm recently acquired the award-winning Singapore-based ESG research house Responsible Research. Last year, the Sustainalytics also entered into a strategic partnership with SUSTINVEST of South Korea.
